Project Overview

The Wildflower Clinic is an acupuncture and integrative Chinese medicine practice based in Golden, Colorado, offering holistic care with a focus on whole-body healing and reproductive wellness. I was brought into the project by Jess at Still Life Studio as the lead developer, tasked with transforming her design direction into a warm, welcoming, and strategically built Squarespace site.

My role was to bring the visual vision to life through customized layouts, clean code, and intuitive interactions. From responsive behavior to subtle animation and structure, I built the site to mirror the soft, grounded energy at the heart of The Wildflower Clinic’s mission. The result is a digital home that feels both professional and nourishing, an extension of the care Dana and her team offer in person.

The Challenge

When Jess at Still Life Studio completed the design for The Wildflower Clinic, she brought me in to handle full development of the site on Squarespace. The goal was to bring her creative direction to life in a way that felt effortless for the client and deeply aligned with the brand’s grounded, nurturing tone.

The development process was smooth from start to finish. I built the full site within a week, staying closely aligned with the design and ensuring the experience felt seamless across all screen sizes. After client review, we made a few minor refinements to enhance clarity and flow.

My Approach

Web Development

My role on this project was to bring Jess’s thoughtful, beautifully minimal design to life through front-end development on Squarespace. The build was completed in just one week: a fast, focused timeline made possible by clear communication, detailed design files, and strong trust between collaborators.

The site needed to feel calming and grounded, so I paid close attention to spacing, typography, and subtle interactions, making sure everything from the hero layout to the appointment flow felt seamless and intuitive. I implemented light custom CSS to refine responsiveness and ensure the site felt consistent across devices.

One key pivot during development was the decision to remove an originally planned mega menu. While it looked beautiful in concept, we chose to simplify the navigation structure to improve SEO and clarity, ensuring visitors could find what they needed quickly while also helping the site perform better in search.

This project was a dream from a dev perspective: clean, intentional, and rooted in a shared commitment to quality. It’s a great example of how I thrive when collaborating with other creatives, translating strong visual direction into digital experiences that feel polished and deeply aligned.

The Outcome

The Wildflower Clinic site launched smoothly and reflected Jess’s design vision with clarity, ease, and polish. From handoff to launch, the process was seamless, allowing Jess to stay in her creative flow while trusting me to handle the technical execution.

As a developer, my job was to show up as a calm, capable collaborator, someone who could translate design into code without friction, while offering insight and care when needed.

Jess and I worked in sync throughout the process, and the result is a digital space that supports her client’s work while reflecting the intention behind her design.

In her words:

“Alex is a dream developer to work with. She’s easy to communicate with, meets deadlines with ease, and always brings thoughtful questions and ideas to the table. Her work on the Wildflower Clinic website was stunning and made my design sing. I can’t wait to partner with her again.”

This project is a great example of how I thrive in creative partnerships, bringing structure, communication, and detail to every build.
